Day #6 – Pride

Pride usually arises when we do something good.

There are two different types of pride – authentic and hubristic. Authentic pride is genuine pride, which we experience when we achieve something.

It is associated with being friendly, responsible, broad-minded, understanding, and forward-looking.

Also, it goes with being inspired by reaching goals and good results. Having self-respect, feeling positive emotions, believing in one’s ability to take on life’s never-ending challenges, and viewing accomplishments as a reflection of one’s exertion and capacity are all included.

Hubristic pride, however, is described as being more broadly “grandiose” and “self-aggrandizing.” Moreover, it relates to hostility, withdrawal, nervousness, and low self-esteem.

The positive emotion, authentic pride, tends to help us to dream big. As we desire big, it makes us yearn for further achievement.
